Vascular Surgery Workshop a First in Ethiopia
Clin A/ Prof Carsten Ritter and Prof Paul Norman, Consultant Vascular Surgeons, arranged and presented the very first Vascular Surgery Workshop offered to orthopaedic surgeons in Ethiopia.
Sixteen orthopaedic surgeons and trainees attended the course which was held over 3 days in Addis Ababa. The course involved teaching management strategies and techniques for vascular trauma and was greatly appreciated by all the participants, with many suggesting it should be an annual event. “We would like to appreciate your presence. We need this to continue to empower us to help our patients.” (Participant feedback).
ADFA acknowledges the generous support from Terumo, Medtronic, Fiona Stanley Hospital and CTEC (UWA) which ensured the success of this mission. Thanks also to Dr Richard Gardner at the CURE Hospital, Dr Biruk, Black Lion Hospital, and staff at the St Pauls Hospital for the local support and program facilitation.
